The State Tiger Strike Force (STSF), Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal, was constituted under the orders of the Forest Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh, vide Order No. F 15-36/2007/10/2 dated 12.12.2008 and 17.06.2022. Under this mandate, four regional units were established at Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, and Shivpuri. Prior to the order issued on 12.12.2008, these units were known as the Anti-Poaching Squad.

The operational domain of these units includes all Protected Areas—such as Tiger Reserves, National Parks, and Wildlife Sanctuaries—as well as regions outside the Protected Zones, including Territorial Forest Divisions. Their jurisdiction extends across the entire state of Madhya Pradesh, functioning under the supervision of the Wildlife Headquarters.

The wildlife conservation initiatives undertaken by these units have earned recognition at the state, national, and international levels. Their contributions have also received appreciation from INTERPOL.

Personnel serving in these units have been acknowledged for their excellence in high-level wildlife investigation. They have been honored with several prestigious recognitions, including the Clark R. Bavin Wildlife Law Enforcement Award, PATA (Pacific Asia Travel Association) Tiger Friend Award, RBS Earth Hero Award, Fateh Singh Rathore Memorial Conservation Award, and the Wildlife Service Award conferred by the Sanctuary Nature Foundation, along with other notable state and national-level awards.
